Cameroon Lebialem Division (Cameroon, Africa)
In 2009 the OMID foundation started in cooperation with the Nkong Hill Top Common Initiative Group (NCIG) Buea Cameroon a project to help needy widows, whose husbands have died of AIDS. These women are struggling for survival and live on the edge of society. They are victims of prejudice and are accused to have caused the death of their husbands by witchcraft. Over the course of the one-year project, 15 widows were trained to raise and sell chicks and piglets, and received micro loans that enabled them to buy young animals. This enables the women and mothers to care for themselves and their children, to have access to medical care and school education. The project also explained their legal rights to them so that they can take advantage of them.
We have supported this project with EUR 14,370.00.
